Newcastle Wedding-Adrian and Chenwei〈part one〉

Lots of soft pink and fuschia colours on the wedding day

The groom Adrian is from England

The bride Chenwei is from Taiwan

Make-up artist

Hairstylist

I photographed the wedding of Adrian and Chenwei. The wedding ceremony was held at the Gibside chaple in Newcastle. The day started at the hotel where the bride was getting ready for her big day. The weather was perfect, the bride simply looked gorgeous and classic on her big day,  the groom looked as fabulous as bride -well matched colours- !!  everything went very well too, the wedding day was full of joy and fun.

Where did you meet each other?

We met in a friend’s house party in Febuary 2007. The host and friends who attended the party were also our wedding guests!

Was she attracted to you at the first sight?

He was young, he made me laugh, and shared the same music taste with me (after we dated, I found that we only share the same interest with ONE type music…)

When we first met, Chenwei was beautiful and offered me some chocolate cake so no competition! It took me a week, and constant MSNing to realise and to pluck up the courage to ask her out.

Did you ever think she/he was the right one  you were looking for at the beginning?

Adrian–I don’t think you ever know, but fate decreed and we have never been happier.

Chenwei–No. I always thought I would marry someone who is older than me.

Where did you go on your first date? What was it like?

An Italian restaurant in Newcastle. Yet the first date since we became boyfriend/girlfriend was a trip to Gibside Chapel and the Restaurante Belini, where we had our wedding ceremony and reception!

How long had you been dating before you got married?

Three years and five months.

Where? How were you proposed to?

I proposed to Chenwei in a nice hotel in Taipei city when I visited her family in 2009.

How long had you been preparing for your wedding?

Around eight months.

Did you have a hen night and a stag night party?

Adrian had his hen night from 4pm to 12am; Chenwei had one from 6pm to 10:30pm

Wedding invitation card- the character means double happiness and full of love !

Newcastle wedding-Adrian and Chenwei〈part two〉

What was the most memorable thing that happened on your wedding day?Chenwei–Every moment !!! The sunny day after raining through the whole week! The flowers were perfect and matched the colour of the bridemaids dresses and of the two mothers’ dresses; the photo time was so funny and enjoyable; Two mothers were holding hands together; I was very happy when I saw the two families dancing together in our evening reception.

Adrian–All of it, in particular when I first saw Chenwei walked into the Chapel.

Tell us about your wedding dress? Where did you buy it?

I bought them. The bridal dress was bought from Cameron London Bridal Dress.

Who chose the groom’s wedding suit?

We chose together. The groom’s suit was a Prince Edwardian Suit.

Who chose the outfits for the bestmen and bridesmaids?

The outfits of the bestmen are the same with the groom; Chenwei chose the bridesmaids’

Where did you hold your reception?

Outside the Chapel. The weather and venue were perfect. Yet the canape was a bit disappointed.

Where did you hold your evening reception?

The reception was Restaurante Bellini. Adrian had visited there since he was little, as the restaurant was in the same village where his parent live.  The owner, Joe, also attended our wedding ceremomy at the Chapel.

What did you decorate your table setting with?

The restaurant owner did it, Joe. Candles, chocolates and some confetti. balloons behind the groom and bride.

What entertainment did you arrange during your evening reception? Any thing  interesting?

We had a disco after desert was served. This was out of surprise as we did not plan it, but Adrian’s sister and brother planned it. We were asked to do the first dance as a surprise, and Adrian could not stop glaring at his sister, as he hates dancing!! The stereo was broken hlf way into the night, so Alex and Jamie ran home to get a stereo from home. We made some fun when the music was gone, for example, Chenwei’s family and Adrian’s family sang several songs respectively to entertain each other; Using a variety of instruments a tambourine, spoons and some other non musical equipment.

Are you having a wedding banquet in Taiwan?

Yes, it will be on 2nd October.

I cross my heart and promise you that I will love you forever, and I am looking forward to continuing the joy journey that we have been through together.

The bride throw her flower bouquet. The girl who catches the bouquet is said to be the next bride.

I want you to know that there will never be anyone else for me but you

May our love grow..

Wedding reception and banquet in St. Albans

The reception started at Darcys resturant.

That’s right!! it’s a lady shaped cake just like the bride’s wedding hat. Very special and unusual.

The groom’s mum organised the wedding venue and the catering.

All the table decoration details were taken care by the groom’s mum, all looking quite perfect!

A reception party !!!

Started at the lounge bar in the restaurant first.  They served with light finger foods, appetizers  and drinks to the guests in the lounge before the formal banquet. The guests mingled together talking and laughing.

Every wedding is unique, and this is a wedding venue I could definitely fall in love with.

Beautiful rooms with a stunning setting.

Although it was a small wedding banquet, it did provide intimacy and atmosphere for the happy couple, family and all the guests.

Don’t you think he looks a bit like the youngest of the Baldwin brothers,Stephen Baldwin when he was younger.

I saw him on Celebrity Big Brother recently.

The groom and his mum.

very sweet !! just like father and daughter..

Because of the size of the event the wedding co-ordinater was on hand from start to finish to guide guests through every details, making sure everything was just right,

and that the guests enjoyed their night with the happy couple through to the end.

I attended to a big banque last year. There were a hundreds of people in the restaurant. Can you imagine how difficult it was to serve a hundreds of people and take care of every detail? Everything was so slow; you had to wait 60 minutes for the next dish.

cute boys

As it was a small wedding party it was very easy for me to capture all the guests having a great time.

The guests seemed to enjoy socialising together and sharing some stories. I  also mingled with their relatives for a while. They seemed to be having great fun.

Bite me!! ha ha :0

The groom’s father gave the fist speech.

The groom had speech about the feeling of their big day and stories he could tell..

Bride made an unplanned speech!

The bride took this opportunity to thanks her parents and all the guests for coming. Some of them from different country.

delicious !!

cutting cake

Who’d have thought that a Taiwanese wedding cake could be decorated so elegantly; it looks especially impressive by the window!

The lounge room was lovely…it created a comfortable and nice atmosphere .

Chelsie and Jonathan-St Albans Registry Office Wedding

The groom Jonathan is from England

The bride Chelsie is from Taiwan

I photographed the wedding of Chelsie and Jonathan. They didn’t arrange a church wedding. so they got married at  registry office in St Albans. The day started at their home where the groom and bride were getting ready for their sweet wedding.

Where did you meet each other?

Internet chat room.We didn’t start dating  each other until after a couple of years since we met on-line.

How long have you been dating / together before you got married?

7 years!!

How were you proposed to?

There wasn’t an official proposal. It’s parents who suggested that it’s time for us to tie the knot so we do.

What is the most memorable thing that happened on your wedding day?

Bride – made an unexpected/unplanned speech.

Groom – Bride’s teary eyes.Groom had been lifted up and thrown around in the air by his giant cousins.

bride getting ready!!

When you think of  weddings, the first picture that comes to mind is the bride in a long white wedding dress and long white wedding veil ….but it doesn’t  have to be that way(white). The wedding is supposed to be a special day for the couples, so I think the colour issue is down to the bride’s choice, there is no need to worry about  following the tradition. Probably mother wouldn’t approve, if this is not a case then go for it if you feel fabulous in pink or blue or black..It doesn’t matter !  See, the bride was in a satin pink, a nice colour for a soft and feminine look..

The right hand side(facing the stage) is the groom’s family and friends…

The guests were invited to  the joyful wedding and gave their support and best wishes to the happy couple.

The left hand side(facing the stage) is bride’s family and friends.

The groom was ready and waiting for his bride!!

The bride was waiting with her father outside of the entrance for a few minutes,

then the  bride came in walking down the isle on her fathers’ arm.

The Minister said a few words  on the significance of marriage first, and then the couple took their wedding vow in turn, repeating the words after the minister..

I had a restriction on using flash and moving around or shooting legal documents during the ceremony.

The Minister only allowed me standing still on the left side.I like to get some good shots at the wedding. How could I

miss the details!! so I had to have a few seconds shooting from the back.

The groom and bride exchanged vows and wedding rings.

The Minister declared that the couple were husband and wife.

sign the marriage certificate!!

The legal certificate is the official record that two people have undertaken a marriage ceremony.

paparazzi!!

media conference!! ha

They are legal witnesses to the marriage.

The couple’s family.

walking out after the ceremony..

Those guests were there to witness the marriage and celebrate with the groom and bride.

Group’s portrait!

haha..a kind of dramatic pose

a happy group of friends and relatives.. I really love this bit. You always can see some funny guys around in the wedding. It gives you in addition to provide a great photo opportunity.

Summer fun in the backyard -family portraits

It’s good to have some family portraits that you will always treasure.

I like to take photos as relaxed and informal as possible, because you can capture the relationship between family members sharing fun time.

I photographed this family doing the things they enjoy doing together, such as siblings laughing and joking, playing games and chasing their father around the garden.

Happy Birthday Princess – Ava

PARTY – PARTY- you are invited

Birthdays come but once a year. No matter what you arrange children should get extra attention and some pampering on their birthday.

Here is the celebration of 3 year old little princess Ava’s birthday. It was hosted at Mawsley Village Centre. Dad and mum had arranged a fun party pack and gifts for all the kids to take home. Little Ava also invited her little friends to come over to the centre for her birthday. Mum was the busiest, arranging everything from invitations to themed decorations, activities, catering, sweets and token gifts. Ava had a great birthday and all the attention she deserved.

Ava’s little friends.  All the children are cute and adorable.

Children love celebrating birthdays. They love little friends, fun and games at a colourful party . They also love sweets  and gifts….Oops did I mention that I love them too. 🙂

Mummy was so happy welcoming the children and their parents.

Ava’s big friends. Most of them are kids parents.

What a great birthday theme idea – You can’t have a kid’s birthday parties without fancy balloons, bubbles and colourful balls, bouncy castle, a fun house, face painting.  Kids really love these activities. It’s also a great idea to keep them having fun and busy.

What is it called?? colourful balls or gumballs?? Great entertaining ideas for little one. Perfect for throwing games and keep them sitting there for a while.. : -D

Bouncy Jumping Castle – HERE WE GO!!

Wendy house ?? or Kids house?? Not sure about this !!

Oh…the little girls were fighting and swinging with their arms around.

Sweets buffet

Welcome to my Sweetie Bar –  It’s a buffet consisting of various types of sweets. Now it’s time for a treat.  You can collect your own. But please ask your mummy before you eat.

kids love it when the moment comes to blow out the candles and cut the birthday cake. It was decorated with green frosting and cartoon figures. The face painter /make-up artist and me were standing there gazing at cake discussing what a fabulous cake it was. How did the baker make it? so brilliant!!  ”Hmmm The cake was too good to be eaten, but a little bite shouldn’t mess up the decoration. :-0”

There are some items here used as a decorations and the personalized paper bags for sweets and cupcakes to take home.

Birthday catering… Are you ready to eat??

These are the goody bags as a token gifts for the kids to take home.

Family portraits – Picnic

I have always liked the outdoor family portraits, because it can always tell the story of a family’s reaction and how they enjoy fun and gorgeous time together.

A few Mums and toddlers would like to spend some time together sitting at the Croyland Park having a picnic. I was also invited to take some outdoor photo session for them. It’s very interesting to meet some people get together from different countries.

It was May.We had a sunny morning and clouds moving in across the sky.  I could only wait and managed to have a photo shoot in the shade, and I also had the sun behind the subject to bring the effects on a sunny picnic.

I really love them having a picnic laughing, smiling at each other with some fun. They look lovely, relaxed and natural during the shooting. It’d be nice to have their daddy on these images. The pictures were taken during the weekday, and it was daddy’s working day!!

Full moon and birthday party

The couple arranged a small party to celebrate a new born baby’s full moon and the eldest daughter’s birthday together. It was hosted at the Methodist Church Hall. And we were invited to the party and also did some shooting.

It’s a traditional in Taiwan and Hong Kong to celebrate baby’s full moon one month after giving birth.

When a new born baby reaches one month old, parents normally organise a party on that day to celebrate the end of mummy’s confinement period and formally introduce the new family member to their friends and relatives. This is called Baby’s full month ceremony or Baby’s full moon party.

Traditionally parents prepare full moon cakes, fry full moon glutinous rice, pray to the goddess of the bed with incense, have a hair cut, dyed eggs in red to symbolise blessing and bringing joy to the baby  given to relatives and friends. But you don’t have to follow tradition there are many parents nowadays that just host a tea party or catering party for the guests.

Children really love it. All the parties I have been to all have this jumping castle / Bouncy castle.

It is a great birthday idea for those big Children – Video games 🙂

The kids were playing hide and seek with adults. They tried to hide themselves behind the door in the kitchen. Look at them……Soooooo cute !!

Royal wedding -Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress

Catherine Middleton had been very keen to keep the details of her dress secret until the day of the wedding. It was revealed this morning – The fitted bodice of hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace, a long-sleeved,sheer veil, ivory satin. It is a classic 50s Grace Kelly look – designed by Sarah Burton, the creative director for the late  Alexander McQueen. The dress looked simple elegant and classic. She looked radiant absolutely stunning just like a princess!!

Bridesmaid Pippa’s wedding dress

The bridal wedding dress was not the only dress of icon on big day. Bride’s sisiter Pippa as a bridesmaid was outshine bride.

Miss Philippa Middleton’s dress was designed and created by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. It is of a heavy, ivory satin-based crepe, with a cowl –necked front and with the same button detail and lace trims as the Bride’s dress.-

The Young Bridesmaids’ Dresses

The flower girls young Bridesmaids’ dresses were designed by childrenswear designer Nicki Macfarlane to echo the Bride’s dress. The four dresses were hand-made by Ms Macfarlane and her daughter Charlotte Macfarlane at their homes in Wiltshire and Kent

The pageboys dresses

They were dressed in the Regency-style red tunic of a Foot Guards officer, matching William’s formal Irish Guards attire.  The boys wore ivory breeches with white stockings and black buckle shoes in accordance with tradition. to read more on dailymail

The collars and cuffs were created by the Royal School of Needlework.

Royal wedding -Catherine Middleton’s wedding fashion

Below  ((mirror.co.uk))

Catherine Middleton follows bridal tradition with something old, new, borrowed and blue for the ceremony.

For her marriage to Prince William, old was represented by a lace technique dating back to the 1800s on her wedding dress.

Designer Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen used traditional Carrickmacross craftsmanship in making the gown.

Kate’s something blue was also featured in the dress in the form of a blue ribbon.

She borrowed a sparkling diamond tiara from Prince William’s grandmother the Queen, the 1936 Cartier “halo”. The Queen loaning the bride a tiara is a tradition of royal weddings.

And something new were the earrings given to her by her parents Carole and Michael to mark her wedding day.

Created by Robinson Pelham, they were diamond-set stylised oak leaves with a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pave set diamond acorn suspended in the centre.

They were inspired by the Middleton family’s new coat of arms, which includes acorns and oak leaves, and were created to echo and complement the tiara.

Her shoes were handmade by the team at McQueen of ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework. The veil was made of layers of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers. ((mirror.co.uk))

Forest Portraits

It’s great to take portraits in a sunny forest. I’m looking for another chance to do more this summer.

These pictures were taken in a beautiful forest in Taiwan a few years ago, it was during May time if I remember correctly. When I look back at these portraits I realise how far I have developed as a photographer since then.
